When Postmuseum opened in 1906 the collections consisted of horse carriages, sleighs, an ice boat, letter boxes and uniforms.
The purpose of the collections is to tell the stories of the people employed by the Post Office and the work they did. The archive has photographs and other archive documents such as art, picture postcards and posters. There are nearly 18 000 objects in the collections and 100 000 photographs in the archive.
